Overview
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Ensure staff are working in a safe and efficient manner across the factory and report all near misses, unsafe observations and accidents.
- Confirm the safe packing of food, ensuring compliance with BRC standards.
- Guarantee high working standards in relation to hygiene, technical documents and samples being taken to conform with customer and BRC requirements.
Leadership and Teamwork
- Can do attitude – leads by example and takes a hands-on approach.
- Work closely with other Shift supervisors and the Production Management team, their teams and other departments to maximise efficiency.
- Motivate teams and individuals to achieve their potential.
- Proactively deal with performance and welfare issues in their teams.
- Champion continuous improvement within the factory.
Communication
- Excellent communication at all levels using verbal and written methods.
- Communicate strategic goals and objectives to Factory employees in a clear and concise manner.
- Champion the need for change and encourage teams to get actively involved.
Strategic
- Achieve factory KPI’s.
- Ensure the Factory is working efficiently.
- See opportunities for creative problem solving while staying within the parameters of good practice.

- Manage within set budget.
- Drive costs down wherever possible.

- Manage efficient use of temporary labour.
- Complete reports and projects on time.
- Organise and prioritise work, devoting adequate time and attention to individual tasks.
Responsibilities & Expertise

- Constantly strive to increase operational performance.
- Optimize factory efficiency whilst maintaining and improving standards.
- Ensure that all team members are trained and competent to carry out their role, including update training.
- Ensure that team is multi-skilled to maximise efficiency and job satisfaction.
- Liaise with Engineering on preventative maintenance and breakdowns to minimise the downtime of equipment.
- Relieve Line 1 or 2 where possible.
- Set up the line for the next production run.
- Carry out hourly line checks.
- Carry out the shift briefing.
- Carry out low level investigations into grievances and conduct/capability issues.
- Conduct Return to works for employees who have been off sick with short term absence.
- Do the first stage of the absence management by conducting an informal discussion once employee hits the absence trigger.
