The key function of the Health and Safety Advisor is to provide help, advice, monitoring, discipline, training and accident and incident investigation.

The Project:

A £120m new build rc framed social/private housing project which is part of the Hackney regeneration. Phase 2b, which will be built on the site of the old Britannia Leisure Centre, is the first part of a residential development and includes the design and build of four residential blocks. These will range in height from three to 25 storeys and include homes of a mixed tenure. The scheme will include 81 affordable homes and 314 for private sale.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as the project health and safety champion and co-ordinator, with the aim of assisting the Project Manager to discharge their duties in respect of health and safety on site.
  • Provide practical and realistic monitoring, good practice advice and ensure basic legal compliance.
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety manager to seek advice and support where they feel it is required.
  • Deliver the daily site inductions and review induction forms and competence cards.
  • Undertake a daily site inspection recording the findings on the H&S reporting systems.
  • Be responsible for maintaining Site Safety Files, including uploading to 4P.
  • Organise regular fire evacuations, record any findings and develop improvement plans.
  • Organise a project health and safety award scheme and coordinate the Site Leadership Meetings.
  • Produce a monthly H&S overview report for inclusion in the project monthly report for the Client.
  • Ensure that all Supervisors complete Daily Safe Starts documentation along with any other site permits and safety documentation.
  • Work with construction teams to update the Construction Phase Plan and Fire and Emergency Plan on a regular basis.

We’re Looking For:

  • 1-2 years’ experience within a H&S role
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
  • Working towards NVQ Level 5 in H&S/NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice (for manager)
  • CSCS Card
