We are currently seeking a number of experienced Black Hat Supervisors to oversee the safe and efficient delivery of high value UK projects. This role involves managing on-site activities, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining high levels of quality and productivity. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring that all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in line with Ardmac's operational standards.
Responsibilities- Safety: Deliver all site activities in accordance with Ardmac's Safety First Guiding Principles. Ensure site-specific inductions are completed for all personnel under Ardmac's control. Develop and implement safe systems of work and task-specific risk assessments. Ensure contract-specific safety statements are maintained as live documents throughout the project lifecycle. Implement effective control measures in public and occupied spaces to protect all who may be affected by the works. Provide instruction and training to operatives and subcontractors on emergency procedures, risk assessments, and safe working methods. Review subcontractor safety documentation for adequacy and compliance. Regularly inspect, monitor, and record on-site activities to ensure safety standards are upheld. Seek support and advice from the Safety Department when required.
- Construction: Supervise daily site operations and ensure works are completed safely, on time, and to the required quality. Chair and document regular subcontractor coordination meetings. Maintain accurate daily site diaries, highlighting progress, labour, and any issues encountered. Manage materials, plant, and equipment to avoid loss, damage, or unnecessary hire costs. Assist in identifying and raising RFIs (Requests for Information) as required. Support the Project Manager in monitoring progress against the construction programme. Ensure supervision and operatives understand their roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations. Monitor the implementation of site logistics, access, and welfare arrangements. Promote effective communication and collaboration between all site stakeholders.
- Quality: Ensure works are carried out in line with current drawings, specifications, and Ardmac quality procedures. Inspect works regularly to confirm compliance with design and quality standards. Support the implementation of environmental management plans on all projects. Maintain professional site presentation, welfare, and housekeeping standards at all times. Assist in completing inspection records, snag lists, and quality checklists.
- Commercial: Support the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor in identifying and recording variations. Ensure daywork and cost records are accurately maintained and submitted for approval. Request materials in a timely manner to avoid project delays. Monitor labour allocation and complete daily timesheets and daywork sheets accurately.
