Ardeta Search is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and expanding national accountancy practice with offices across the UK including Leeds and Sheffield. Our client is seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their team in either of their Yorkshire offices. The Senior Payroll Officer will take responsibility for the end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse portfolio of clients.
Key duties include:
- Managing payroll deadlines
- Reconciling payroll accounts
- Handling statutory payments
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements
- Troubleshooting complex payroll issues
- Supporting junior staff
- Improving internal processes to enhance service efficiency
Responsibilities include:
- End-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, including PAYE, pensions, and statutory payments
- Ensuring payroll compliance with UK legislation and HMRC regulations
- Managing RTI submissions and payroll deadlines
- Resolving payroll discrepancies and providing guidance on payroll matters
- Supporting client onboarding and managing transitions between payroll systems
- Mentoring junior payroll staff and assisting with their development
- Continuously improving payroll processes and identifying efficiencies
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous payroll bureau experience is essential
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll or BrightPay software would be preferential
- Excellent understanding of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NIC, SSP, SMP, and pension requirements
- Ability to manage multiple client payrolls with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills to manage client relationships effectively
- Able to work independently and collaborate with the team when necessary
