An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced pensions or regulatory solicitor to join the legal team of a well‑established UK organisation operating at the centre of a highly regulated and rapidly evolving sector. This role is ideally suited to someone who wants to go beyond traditional advisory work, offering the chance to influence key decisions, work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to matters with a genuine wider impact.
The successful candidate will advise across a broad and varied portfolio of complex legal, regulatory, commercial and strategic issues. You will work alongside senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams, providing clear, practical and commercially grounded advice while helping colleagues navigate legal risk, emerging challenges and new opportunities. The work is diverse and often high profile, spanning significant investigations and regulatory matters through to policy development, major projects and the implementation of new initiatives.
You will enjoy considerable autonomy and be trusted to take ownership of your work, while collaborating closely with lawyers, policy specialists, technical experts and other senior professionals. The role offers exposure to intellectually challenging issues and the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of how law, regulation and public interest intersect. You will also engage directly with senior decision‑makers and contribute to matters that have meaningful impact beyond the organisation itself.
We are particularly keen to hear from lawyers who enjoy grappling with complex issues, exercising sound judgement and translating intricate legal questions into clear, actionable advice. You may come from a regulatory, pensions, financial services, commercial, public law or contentious background, and your experience may have been gained in private practice, in‑house, government or another regulated environment. What matters most is your ability to apply your expertise within a complex, purpose‑driven organisation and operate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX professional with, or eligible for, a current practising certificate in England and Wales. You will bring substantial post‑qualification experience, strong legal judgement and a track record of managing complex matters and competing priorities. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience supporting or developing junior lawyers would also be welcomed.
The legal team is collaborative, pragmatic and highly engaged with the organisation’s wider objectives. Its work spans regulatory and public law, commercial matters, disputes, information law, restructuring and specialist sector‑specific issues.
