Ardent is seeking a Land Manager to join existing project teams and contribute to utilities land services, focusing on water and electricity for our clients. This role is crucial for ensuring cohesive delivery and support for key utilities infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will provide advice, consider the implications of utilities works, and manage land access and rights for clients in the West of England and Welsh Borders. The role includes opportunities for travel and working with industry experts on utilities infrastructure projects, including CPOs and DCOs. This position offers the chance to develop expertise in compulsory purchase, land rights, and compensation, contributing to the growth and reputation of Ardent’s Land Assembly Directorate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Assist in the delivery of project tasks, ensuring that project outcomes are met. Exceed client expectations and maximize team performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with landowners, serve notices, agree on access, negotiate with clients, and handle public inquiries to strengthen relationships and improve project delivery.
  • Project Hygiene: Support the Project Account Manager with financial requirements, ensuring timely submission of timesheets and expenses. Help exceed forecasted commercial performance.
  • Technical Knowledge: Provide guidance on land right processes, delivering instructions effectively and efficiently. Ensure fair and timely resolution of claims.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor junior team members, providing technical advice and supporting their continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Business Development: Support the wider growth of the business by exceeding client expectations and contributing to new business opportunities.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build effective working relationships with clients and stakeholders, both internally and externally, enhancing teamwork and decision‑making.
  • Leadership Development: Desire to develop and learn people leadership skills to inspire, develop, and empower high‑performing teams.
  • Market Knowledge: Basic understanding of the infrastructure market and awareness of relevant policies and potential changes.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of land access, land rights, wayleaves, easements, licenses, compensation framework, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation.
  • Negotiation and Engagement: Ability to lead negotiations, develop and complete agreements, and secure the withdrawal of objections, reducing risks at examination.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to various audiences.
