A different way to use your employment law expertise
What if you could put your employment law knowledge to work without the pressure of billing targets, timesheets or the traditional fee-earning model?
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Solicitor to take on a role that combines technical legal expertise, client engagement and training delivery offering a refreshing alternative to conventional private practice.
Working with a range of clients you will deliver engaging, practical training on employment law developments, helping organisations to understand their obligations and navigate legislative change and workplace challenges with confidence.
This is a role for someone who enjoys sharing their knowledge, building relationships and making a tangible difference to clients rather than measuring success by chargeable hours.
What makes this opportunity different?
No billing targets or timesheets. Focus on the quality and impact of your work, rather than fee-earning metrics.
Variety of client exposure. Work with different organisations, sectors and audiences, developing a broad perspective on employment law in practice.
A different working rhythm. Workload is organised in a way which offers greater visibility and a more structured working pattern than traditional fee-earning.
A chance to use your expertise differently. Turn complex legal developments into practical, accessible guidance that clients can immediately apply.
A genuine alternative to the traditional partnership route. For an established solicitor or former partner considering a change of pace, this is an opportunity to retain intellectual challenge and client contact without the usual demands of a fee-earning practice.
Who might this suit?
We are keen to speak with experienced Employment Associates, ideally with at least 6+ years' PQE, who have a strong technical grounding and enjoys communicating complex legal issues clearly and confidently.
You might be a senior associate or legal director at a leading firm or a partner considering a different direction. Lawyers from an in-house background will also be of interest.
You will need to have, or be eligible for, a current practising certificate and you will have a thorough understanding of employment law including recent legislative developments. Previous training experience would be valuable, but the key is the ability to engage an audience and translate legal knowledge into practical advice.
The practical details
The role involves travel to client sites, so some longer working days are inevitable. In return, the working pattern is generally more structured than conventional fee-earning, although training days can vary and are not necessarily fixed each week.
Curious about a different direction?
For employment lawyers who want to remain close to the law and their clients but are ready to step away from the traditional pressures of private practice, this could be an opportunity worth exploring.
