Role Purpose: As a Senior Surveyor, you will provide strategic land compensation and valuation advice for major infrastructure and regeneration projects. You will act as a trusted advisor, supplying specialist technical input on compensation and compulsory purchase legislation. Your role involves project management and leading negotiations with landowners, clients, and stakeholders to secure land and resolve claims efficiently and compliantly. This position is essential for supporting Ardent’s mission of facilitating life-improving changes and enabling progress towards net zero, enhanced connectivity, and community regeneration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor on compensation and compulsory purchase legislation, providing specialist technical input to clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage project negotiations with landowners, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring efficient and compliant resolution of claims.
  • Maintain high-quality engagement, strategic advice, and delivery on major projects within the transport, renewables, utilities, and regeneration sectors.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members, providing feedback and technical support to enhance their skills and confidence.
  • Promote a culture of safety and wellbeing within teams, proactively identifying and addressing health and safety concerns.
  • Deliver informative and engaging presentations to small groups or teams, improving communication and team performance.
  • Liaise with landowners and handle public enquiries, strengthening stakeholder relationships and improving public trust.
  • Support financial requirements for projects, ensuring timely invoicing, debt management, and resource allocation to exceed commercial performance targets.
  • Identify potential leads and new work opportunities, contributing to business growth and expanding Ardent’s client base.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in building effective working relationships with clients and other stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Awareness and compliance with RICS Professional Statements and other relevant guidance and mandatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to assess and improve the profitability of individual projects by managing costs and resources efficiently.
  • Understanding of the legal basis of compulsory purchase compensation and the ability to apply it to the assessment of various compensation claims.
  • Demonstrable track record of settling compensation claims and providing accurate compensation estimates.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to manage the delivery of projects with guidance from the appropriate line manager, ensuring effective project management and improved team results.
  • Proactively promote a culture of safety within teams and advocate for safety improvements to ensure safer project delivery.
