We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a Children’s Services team in Staffordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social work professional to work with children, young people and families using a strengths-based and restorative approach, supporting families to remain together safely and helping children achieve positive outcomes.
What you will do
Social Work Practice: Undertake a range of social work interventions, including assessing and managing risks to children and young people, while working in partnership with families and professionals.
Case Management: Manage a workload of children and young people, prioritizing work in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, legislation and required timescales.
Assessment and Planning: Complete high-quality assessments, plans, reviews and interventions to support positive outcomes for children, young people and their families.
Family Support: Offer Family Group Conferences and Family Meetings and work with families to develop plans that support children to remain safely within their families where appropriate.
Direct Work: Undertake direct work with children, young people, families and careers, providing high support and high challenge while helping families identify solutions to their own challenges.
Safeguarding: Assess and manage risks to children and young people, contributing to safeguarding processes and developing appropriate safety plans.
Multi-Agency Working: Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to coordinate support and achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable children.
Reports and Recording: Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality, timely assessments and reports for Court, Child Protection Case Conferences, Statutory Reviews and other relevant forums.
Professional Development: Participate in regular supervision and maintain a commitment to continuous professional development in line with Social Work England professional standards.
What you will need
- A professional Social Work qualification or BA Social Work qualification recognized by Social Work England.
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Relevant training and experience in social work interventions.
- Experience across a range of social work responsibilities.
- Knowledge of legislation relating to children’s welfare and safeguarding, children in need, court and care planning, fostering and adoption.
- Understanding of child development and family dynamics.
- Ability to undertake high-quality and timely assessment, planning, monitoring and review.
- Strong communication, recording and report-writing skills.
- Ability to priorities workloads and manage competing demands.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with partner agencies.
- Commitment to restorative approaches when working with children and families.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and high-quality services for children and families.
