Job Description

Job Title: Advanced Practitioner – Children’s Safeguarding
Specialism: Children’s Services
Location: Grantham, Lincolnshire, UK
Salary: £40.00 Per Hour (Limited/Umbrella) / £29.51 Per Hour (PAYE)
Type: Temporary / Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join a Children’s Safeguarding team based in Grantham. The role involves completing assessments of children and their families where safeguarding concerns have been identified, supporting children subject to Child Protection and Child in Need Plans, and preparing assessments and reports for court proceedings.

The team covers the South Kesteven District, including Grantham and a large rural area, with the office based in Grantham.

What you will do

Safeguarding Practice: Complete assessments of children and their families where safeguarding concerns have been identified, ensuring appropriate intervention and effective case management.

Child Protection: Support children subject to Child Protection and Child in Need Plans, ensuring their needs and welfare remain central to practice.

Court Work: Prepare high-quality assessments and reports for court proceedings, including private and public law proceedings.

Case Management: Manage cases from referral through to closure, or through CIN, Child Protection and Care Proceedings where required, maintaining continuity of Social Worker throughout the case.

Section 47 Investigations: Undertake Section 47 investigations as required, using appropriate safeguarding practice and professional judgement.

Multi-Agency Working: Work effectively with children, families and partner agencies to support informed decision-making and positive outcomes.

Duty System: Participate in the four-weekly duty system, with one week allocated to duty responsibilities and availability to accept new cases and undertake initial visits.

Office-Based Working: Work from the Grantham office during duty weeks, with two to three days in the office during other weeks, in line with the team’s working arrangements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualifying experience in a permanent, frontline safeguarding role.
  • Experience completing Section 47 investigations.
  • Experience working with Child Protection and Child in Need Plans.
  • Experience preparing assessments and reports for court proceedings.
  • Ability to manage cases from referral through to closure or care proceedings.
  • Social Work qualification and relevant professional registration.
