We\’re looking for an experienced Hire Controller to join our friendly depot in Harefield, providing maternity cover for a 12-month period. This role is key to ensuring our hire processes run smoothly and effectively, supporting both our operational teams and our customers.
You will be responsible for delivering an efficient, accurate and proactive service, ensuring that hire orders are processed correctly and that the depot runs effectively on a day-to-day basis.
Responsibilities
- Using management information systems to capture and report accurate data in a timely manner
- Communicating effectively with workshops, supply chain colleagues and operational teams
- Handling hire queries and ensuring they are resolved or escalated as appropriate
- Overseeing route planning to support operational efficiency
- Carrying out general office administration duties to support depot operations
- Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental and Fleet policies and standards
Qualifications

- You have proven and demonstrable experience in a Hire Controller role within a plant hire logistics environment, as this knowledge will be essential in stepping into a senior position from day one.
- Strong administrative ability, attention to detail, and confidence in using Microsoft Office and relevant systems are also important for success in this role.
- The position requires someone who can manage competing priorities effectively while meeting deadlines, and who has the confidence to liaise with colleagues, suppliers and clients at all levels. Strong communication skills, combined with a proactive and organised approach, will be key.
