Ardene House Veterinary Practice is looking for an enthusiastic Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to work within our multidisciplinary hospital located in the western suburbs of Aberdeen. The position would suit either an experienced or more recently qualified vet as our veterinary team has a high level of experience and would be able to offer support where required.
You will have excellent communication skills and develop good relationships with our wonderful clients by providing a high standard of patient care and prioritising continuity of care. Our vets, nurses, and support staff all work towards our vision of providing exceptional veterinary care to our patients. A preference for consulting would complement our existing team.

Our opening hours are 8 am - 7 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am - 4 pm on Saturday. Our full-time vets work 35 hours per week across 4 or 5 days, with a share in 1:3 Saturdays, and there is no out-of-hours commitment. We encourage part-time and flexible working candidates to apply.

The small animal department at Kingswells is home to a talented team of 7 Vets, 8 Nurses, 2 VCAs, 2 SVNs, and a brilliant team of receptionists. Our staff work alongside our dedicated farm animal and equine colleagues, ensuring comprehensive care across multiple specialisms. Each day, we have nurses assigned specifically to consulting, kennels, anaesthesia, surgery, and preparation, optimising patient care and workflow.
We foster a culture of CPD and specialisation, supporting our team in pursuing certificates and advanced studies, fully funded by the practice. Located in spacious, purpose-built premises in Kingswells, our facilities include ample parking and state-of-the-art equipment.
Our department is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a digital radiography room, a dental suite featuring the latest IMS rotating dental radiography machine and processor, ultrasonography, CT scanner, endoscopy, and laparoscopy facilities. We boast two surgical theatres, one with a dedicated preparation area, an in-house laboratory, extensive kennel areas, a separate cattery, critical care, and isolation wards. During general anaesthesia, we prioritise patient safety with advanced equipment such as sevoflurane anaesthesia, multiparameter monitoring systems, and bear huggers.
In Bridge of Don, our branch is staffed by 1 Vet, 2 SVNs, and 4 Receptionists, ensuring personalised care and attention to every pet and client. The surrounding area offers a vibrant blend of city life in Aberdeen, Scotland's oil capital, alongside easy access to coastal areas, parks, woodlands, rivers, and mountains. Kingswells is also well-connected, with excellent transport links including regular bus services to and from the city centre and easy access to the A90, making commuting straightforward for both clients and staff.
