About the Role:

Infrastructure Engineer responsible for maintaining and enhancing a diverse infrastructure environment, including cloud services, on‑premises systems, virtualisation, network infrastructure, VoIP technologies, and Microsoft 365. Collaborate with Senior Engineers and the Head of IT Operations to improve system stability, security and scalability for staff and students.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience managing server operating systems and associated tools
  • Proven in‑depth technical problem‑solving capability
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies (e.g. Hyper‑V, VMware)
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and practices
  • Experience managing and maintaining backup solutions (e.g. Veeam or similar)
  • Good understanding of networking technologies (wired and wireless), ideally including Cisco Meraki
  • Knowledge of desktop software environments (e.g. Microsoft Office, Adobe, Java)
  • Experience with storage technologies (e.g. Nimble or similar)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems and deployment tools (e.g. Windows 11, MDT, MDOP)
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g. MECM/MCM, Intune)
  • Broad understanding of server and desktop industry standards
  • Good working knowledge of cloud infrastructure services alongside traditional on‑premises solutions
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell, Kix, VB)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Azure AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services, and DFS
  • Working knowledge of Linux environments (e.g. Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) and related applications (e.g. Apache, HAProxy, MySQL, RabbitMQ)

Desirable Requirements:

  • Certifications - Microsoft (e.g. MCSA / MCSE, Azure DevOps) / Networking / VOIP (CCNA / CCNP) / AWS (Foundation / Associate)
  • MAC Management techniques
  • DevOps experience
  • Security frameworks (PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001)
  • Security technologies - Firewall / AV / Device Encryption
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
