This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement that will require little to no travel into our various UK sites. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

About our Department
The Business Analyst (Learning Systems) sits within our Technology Department that is crucial to making sure our employees and students can work effectively, deliver projects, find the right solutions and ensure we develop the technology that will make the biggest difference. Our IT team is made up of around 65 employees with a vast range of skills from Software Development to IT Operations and Security. Our IT Department values employee development and we have lots of great examples of employee progression and promotions within the team.
About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join Arden University as a Business Analyst within our Learning Systems team, helping to shape and improve the digital tools that support teaching, learning, and the student experience. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the University to understand business needs and translate them into clear, actionable requirements for our learning systems team. Acting as a key link between users and technical colleagues, you will support the design and delivery of improvements to our learning platforms, ensuring solutions are aligned to real user needs and institutional priorities.
You will lead on identifying and documenting process improvements and system enhancement opportunities, supporting decision makers including VLE administrators, developers, and product owners with clear, accurate analysis. The role also involves eliciting and validating requirements, supporting testing activity, and ensuring solutions are effectively transitioned into live service, including hypercare support where required. This is a varied and fast-paced role where you will play a key part in driving continuous improvement across Arden's learning systems, helping to deliver better, more efficient digital experiences for staff and students.
About You
You are a proactive and detail-oriented Business Analyst with experience working in complex, fast-paced environments where multiple priorities and stakeholders must be balanced. You are confident working with technical and non-technical colleagues, translating business needs into clear requirements and supporting the delivery of effective system and process improvements. You take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work and enjoy using data, insight, and structured analysis to solve problems and influence positive change.
Essential requirements:
- Experience of Business Analysis within a complex organisation, delivering across fast-paced and overlapping projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex or incomplete information and identify practical solutions
- Experience of process mapping and business process re-engineering for complex enterprise systems
- Experience applying Business Analysis techniques such as user stories, use cases, workshops, and focus groups
- Experience of testing methodologies including User Acceptance Testing and supporting end-to-end testing activity
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex systems and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and manage competing priorities
- Experience using process mapping tools (e.g. Visio) and requirements management tools (e.g. JIRA)
- Understanding of Higher Education systems and digital learning environments (e.g. VLEs such as Moodle)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a complex and varied workload to tight deadlines
Desirable requirements:
- ITIL Foundation.
- Project Management qualification e.g. PRINCE2 or Agile PM
- Leadership and Management skills/training
- Experience working within the Higher Education sector
- Experience of using JIRA to document, serve and progress requirements
- Experience of Moodle or other VLEs
- Understanding of HE learning systems
- Understanding of IT systems used in higher education, such as Student Records, Finance, Office 365/SharePoint
