About the Department: Our Centre is dedicated to supporting students through their first‑year university journey. We deliver a range of strategic initiatives including:

  • Academic programmes – Foundation Year programmes, Foundation Degree programmes, CertHE support
  • Persistence initiatives – ‘On Track’ progression and resit support; Pass First Time: academic study skills programme; and university‑wide student orientation events

About the Opportunity: Contribute to teaching at different levels and provide academic support to individual students and student groups. Contribute to the assessment process for one or more modules at different levels, including providing formative feedback, marking and moderation, and creating assessments. Undertake administrative activities to support teaching and learning activities, such as creating teaching resources and materials, and analysing student feedback. Work on campus 4 days a week to meet the student timetable.

About You:

Essential requirements:

  • Honours degree
  • Ability to effectively communicate material of a specialist or technical nature, relevant to the subject
  • Ability to contribute to programme enhancement
  • Excellent breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline/subject area to within own area
  • Confident in use of all Microsoft 365 tools and applications
  • Strong commitment to own professional development

Desirable requirements:

  • Masters or PhD
  • Recognised HE Teaching Qualification and/or Advance HE Fellowship at FHEA/SFHEA level or commitment to gain within 18 months of appointment
  • Experience of using e‑learning technologies and commitment to the value and purpose of digital education
  • Teaching and/or academic support experience in a relevant educational context
  • Experience of effective working in teams in an educational context and experience of engaging learners through an innovative approach to digital learning
