We are seeking a dedicated Salaried GP to join our supportive and collaborative practice team, working 4 sessions per week on Thursdays and Fridays. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the full range of responsibilities associated with General Practice within a Primary care setting.
Main duties of the job:- In person consultations
- Telephone consultations
- Triage calls
- Visiting patients at home and care homes
- On call duties
- Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
- Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required
- Clinical administration
- Assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients appropriately
- Managing acute, chronic, and complex presentations
- Supporting quality improvement, enhanced services, and practice development
- Contributing to continuity of care and high clinical standards

Job responsibilities:- Make professional autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate
- Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols as well wider guidance such as that from NICE
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Check, read and interpret pathological results for patients
- Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
- Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards
- Participate in clinical audits, and learning event analyses and practice meetings
- Ensure that practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately within information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy and for practice recording requirements under QOF and enhanced services
- Appropriate use of read codes
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions avoiding handwritten prescriptions
- Prescribe appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)
- Work with and provide support for other members of the primary health care team
- Play a lead role in the practice achieving agreed and other key performance indicator targets
- Participate in team meetings and patient engagement events
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and entry and the GP Register (Certificate of completion date must be within 2 years and not having held a substantive post before)
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate of Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent
- Included on the Medical Performers List or eligible
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Experience of NHS General Practice and primary care
- Experience of using electronic clinical patient records (EMIS/System One)
- Experience of medicines management
- Experience of QOF and clinical audit
- Understanding of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services including General Practice, the GMS contract, Clinical Governance, Network Contract DES and Quality and Outcomes Framework
- Knowledge of the health needs of the Primary Care Network population
- Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP
