We have an opportunity for a Technical Operator Apprenticeship within our Production Team at Wrexham. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop skills and build a long term career in manufacturing. This is a 3-year apprenticeship programme, combining formal education with on the job training.
Year 1: Based on site full time at Coleg Cambria, beginning BTEC Level 3 Engineering (year 1)
Year 2 & 3: Integration into the production team, developing practical skills as a Technical Operator while continuing your apprenticeship qualifications (BTEC year 2 & NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering), day release at college.
You will receive training, mentoring and development throughout the programme, working closely with Process Leaders, Technicians and Technical Operators.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Attend college as required and successfully complete all elements of the apprenticeship programme
- Work safely at all times in line with H&S requirements
- Learn to safely operate manufacturing equipment and machinery
- Assist with basic fault finding, minor repairs and equipment adjustments as trained
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across the plant
- Support activities to minimise downtime, spoilage and waste
Skills, knowledge and experience:
- 5 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or C or above in Maths, English, Science plus two subjects
- Good written and verbal English
- A strong interest in engineering or manufacturing
- Commitment to completing a 3-year apprenticeship programme
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- A team player with good attention to detail
Hours of Work:
- Year 1: Monday to Friday (hours to align with Coleg Cambria academic timetable)
- Year 2 & 3: 12 hour shifts - 4 on / 4 off (2 days / 2 nights)
