Job Description
The jobholder manages furnace rebuilding projects in any of our European Ardagh plants from a conceptual stage through engineering and implementation to commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and assess rebuilding options to achieve technical, environmental and commercial requirements
- Prepare a detailed furnace specification
- Carry out cost and materials estimates, to develop a project budget and control costs throughout the project
- Carry out the technical part of the procurement process for contracting engineering and site services
- Manage the furnace engineering process and participate in the project teamwork during the planning phase including frequent visits and on-site meetings
- Supervise and manage site works during the actual rebuild on-site supervising contractors and coordinating interfaces with other project areas
- Supervise and manage heat-up, commissioning, hot insulation, performance tests, snagging items till hand-over to the factory
- Keep abreast of developments on furnace technology in general and throughout the Group and contribute to Group knowledge and understanding
- Adhere to and always enforce all Health and Safety regulations and policies
- Promote the development and implementation of best practice/standardized furnace design across the company
- Lead the development and delivery of energy efficiency innovations to drive competitive advantage for Ardagh
Requirements
- Master of science, Certified engineer, or -technician in glass technology, glass production, civil or mechanical engineering or similar qualifications are expected
- Experience of supervising a team and contractors
- Minimum of 3-5 years job experience in mentioned fields
- Communication and problem resolution skills
- Driving license
- Based in Germany, but the general commitment for business trips has to be available, also for unscheduled travel in case of problems
