Temporary BEC Operator - Shifts Barnsley Plant Fixed term – 6 months. To maintain a supply of materials to support each decorating process enabling each line to operate to its full capacity.
Responsibilities
- Comply with Company Health and Safety Procedures to maintain a safe working environment and carry out housekeeping per Hygiene Rules.
- Supply all lines with materials (naked glass, cardboard, etc.) ensuring each line runs to full capacity.
- Problem solve and fault find within standard operating procedures, ensuring customer packing specifications are achieved.
- Remove cullet and contaminated materials to the correct location on site; operate a palletiser or drive a forklift truck.
- Ensure each forklift truck is maintained per supplier’s schedule.
- Take ownership of decorated ware packing fit for transport; check all cold‑end equipment (squeeze testers, coating sprays, etc.).
- Document and record all checks; view ware on the production line and debrief team members at shift changeovers.
Required Skills / Qualifications
- Interpret Packaging Specification information.
- Manually pack glass in event of equipment failure.
- Identify basic mechanical malfunctions.
- Detect container defects.
- Preferred mechanical knowledge/experience; opportunities for on‑job training and departmental succession planning.
