Biomaterial Production & Research Intern
Overview
We create biomaterials from waste feedstocks, focusing on creating a leather-like material from beer-brewing waste. Our goal is to provide affordable, plant-based, plastic-free alternatives for the growing leather-alternative market.
Responsibilities
- Work with the production team for protein extraction (similar to a brewer)
- Conduct quality control & analytical tests on protein batches
- Visit local breweries for grain pick-up
- Collaborate with the R&D team to streamline and optimise extraction conditions
- Assist in the production and finishing of material sheets
- Test and characterise biomaterials
Qualifications
- Recent graduate (within 2 years) or studying for a Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related field
- Computer-literate in standard MS Office and G-Suite tools
- A hands-on problem solver
- Enthusiastic and quick to learn new techniques
- Willing to work in a start-up environment in Bermondsey
