We are recruiting an experienced Area Support Manager to join our expanding Automatic & Industrial Door Department (Secure) during an exciting period of growth and continued investment. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal part in a fast-paced, technically driven organisation that delivers critical services across complex and high-footfall environments.

As Area Support Manager, you will take responsibility for supporting and leading a team of Managing Engineers and Engineers, acting as part of the escalation process for both operational and client-related matters across a defined region. You will play a critical role in ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality maintenance and repair services for Automatic, Industrial Door systems and other designated products, supported by your strong mechanical and electrical engineering background.
You will work closely with our clients building trusted relationships and ensuring service delivery meets or exceeds agreed contractual requirements. Your focus will be on our service quality and service delivery to ensure our customer premises operate safely, efficiently and without disruption, while maintaining full compliance with statutory regulations and internal safety standards.
You will oversee area performance through a dedicated departmental resource team, ensuring engineers are deployed effectively, attend sites within agreed response times and deliver work to a high technical and safety standard in line with SLAs. You will monitor performance metrics, identify trends and implement corrective actions where required to maintain service excellence.
Leading a large multi-skilled workforce, you will be helping to support the development of the team through coaching, mentoring and the use of our facilities at our National Training centre. This should ensure the team is engaged, have accountability and perform to the highest standards. You must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of managing teams at scale, including performance management, conflict resolution and the development of technical and leadership capability.
The role also includes a proportion of administrative and reporting responsibilities, requiring strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility is essential as the role will involve a combination of home-based working, site visits, and attendance at client or operational meetings as required.
Strong commercial awareness is a key requirement of the role. You will support the management of key accounts, contribute to budget control and apply your technical expertise to inform commercial decisions. You will be confident in holding open, honest and sometimes challenging conversations with internal and external stakeholders, influencing outcomes around costs, performance and service delivery while maintaining strong working relationships and managing expectations effectively.
The ideal candidate will come from a fast-paced Automatic or Industrial Door environment, with extensive experience operating at a senior technical or operational level. You will have previously held hands-on technical maintenance roles, giving you a strong understanding of the practical and compliance requirements associated with automatic and industrial door systems.
You will possess a solid understanding of planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, safety standards and regulatory compliance within the sector enabling you to provide credible technical leadership and support to engineering teams and clients alike. Strong IT literacy is essential. You will be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, maintenance management systems and web-based platforms to manage data, reporting and communication in a digitally driven environment.
This role would suit someone who is confident, resilient, highly organised with the ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively. You will have strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to manage, influence stakeholders and lead teams through change in a demanding operational environment. Retail sector experience is advantageous, particularly within high-footfall or multi-site environments; however, the following are essential:

- Salary: Up to £58,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
