Arconic is currently searching for a Maintenance Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Kitts Green Team based in Birmingham. Primary Responsibilities
- Provide professional engineering & maintenance support through application of appropriate expertise, knowledge and experience.
- Focus on reliability of the plant through planned and reactive activities with yourself and other maintenance personnel.
- Have good understanding of fault‑finding methodology.
- Ensure improvements are made with regards to reliability.
- Participate in RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) of issues.
- Support, mentor and provide guidance to apprentice maintenance personnel.
In this role, you will:
- Work towards understanding all mechanical principles and a good understanding of process control.
- Have a good grasp and understanding of mechanical workings.
- Work safely and have a good understanding of all EHS requirements and contractor control.
- Ensure you work in a safe manner and comply with all policies.
- Engage in projects/activities as required.
- Assist in improving plant and equipment up‑time.
- Coach and mentor apprentices and others as required.
- Responsibility for all aspects of maintenance (planned, corrective, reactive, etc.).
- Review and critically analyze engineering drawings.
- Have high competency of IT usage, e.g., Microsoft Word and internal systems.
- Be capable of working with contractors and on‑site personnel.
- Pay attention to detail.
- Work within a team or independently.
- Support area maintenance teams with issues and breakdowns.
- Take a proactive approach and be self‑motivated to achieve goals and targets.
- Have knowledge of hydraulics, drive systems, etc.
Qualifications (required)
- Mechanical apprenticeship served to a minimum of NVQ level 3.
- Experience or a strong desire to work within a manufacturing/production environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to liaise at all levels.
- Prior experience within an industrial setting is essential.
- Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization and a positive “can do” attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical knowledge within heavy engineering and fast‑paced production environments.
- Ability to analyze technically complex problems and develop most appropriate solutions.
- Prior experience within a heavy industrial industry process/operation is desirable.
