Job Title

Area Electrical Engineer – Maintenance Team – Kitts Green, Birmingham.

Job Summary

Provide high-level professional electrical engineering support within a manufacturing team environment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the manufacturing process on the Kitts Green site, including re‑melts, rolling mills, saws, mobile equipment, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Drive appropriate quality, productivity and health and safety within the department.
  • Assist with plant improvement strategies.
  • Focus on the financial aspects of contracts, including final project valuations, preparation of project briefs, and presentations to clients.
  • Project manage major and minor engineering installations.
  • Develop engineering specifications to all relevant BS engineering standards, codes of practice and Arconic standards.
  • Ensure and follow installation of projects, including training of on‑site personnel and completion of all documentation and project files.
  • Manage budgets of all aspects of any project.
  • Review tender documents from third‑party suppliers.
  • Review and critically analyse engineering drawings.

Qualifications

  • HND or BSc in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with heavy manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical control.
  • Full understanding of all EHS aspects of engineering, including CDM, HAZOP, confined spaces and contractor control.
  • Understanding of all mechanical principles.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Project and Oracle‑based budget management tools.
  • Experience working with financial controls, systems and procurement.
  • Basic operational skills for AutoCAD/AutoCAD Inventor.
  • Able to follow drawing office systems for filing of drawings.
  • Strong communication skills to enable liaison with other departments/disciplines and external contractors.

Kitts Green is situated in the heart of Birmingham, approximately a 10‑minute drive from Birmingham International Airport. The location has good transport links to the M42/M6 motorway and Lea Hall train station is a 10‑minute walk offering regular trains to Birmingham City Centre.
