I am currently working with a well-established main contractor who specialises in retail projects, who are seeking to recruit a Freelance Site Manager for an immediate start on a fast-track retail project in Bristol.

The Project: This is a fast-paced retail fit-out scheme, requiring a hands-on Site Manager capable of driving programme, coordinating multiple trades and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to the highest standard. The project forms part of a wider pipeline of works, offering the potential for ongoing contract opportunities.

The Role: As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage site logistics, conduct regular health & safety inspections and maintain strong communication with both the project team and client representatives. The successful candidate will be proactive, highly organised and experienced in delivering fast-track retail projects within live or challenging environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing daily site activities and subcontractor performance
  • Ensuring Health & Safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Driving programme and monitoring key project milestones
  • Conducting site inspections and quality control checks
  • Coordinating deliveries, materials and labour resources
  • Managing site records, RAMS and permit systems
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and project stakeholders
  • Resolving on-site issues quickly to maintain programme delivery

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on retail fit-out, refurbishment or fast-track construction projects
  • Valid SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certificates
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and deliver projects to tight deadlines
