Purpose
The Teacher at Arco Academy is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, ensuring that all pupils are supported to achieve strong academic outcomes while developing confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning. The role reflects Arco Academy's commitment to small-group teaching, personalised learning, and high expectations for both academic progress and personal development. Teachers are expected to contribute positively to the wider life of the school and uphold its values, ethos, and inclusive culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 in line with the school curriculum.
- Adapt teaching to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and learning styles of pupils.
- Set high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement in every lesson.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to promote challenge, progress, and independence.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Curriculum and Assessment
- Deliver the curriculum effectively, ensuring continuity and progression across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress accurately and regularly.
- Use assessment information to inform planning, differentiation, and targeted support.
- Provide constructive feedback that helps pupils understand how to improve their work.
- Contribute to curriculum development and review where required.
- Pupil Progress, Pastoral Care, and Wellbeing
- Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
- Act as a form tutor or pastoral lead where required.
