Yard Operative / Forklift Driver

This role is offered by Arco Recruitment Ltd for a growing independent builders’ merchant. The successful candidate will manage the handling of materials, goods and equipment at the branch.

Key Details

  • Salary: Up to £31,100 DOE
  • Hours: Mon – Fri & Saturday (08:00 – 12:00) – alternate Saturdays
  • Location: Requires access to transport due to branch location

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, load and unload trucks, and organize and store materials.
  • Maintain inventory records and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Act as first point of contact for customers arriving at the branch.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage or defects and ensure safe, efficient handling.
  • Follow safety procedures rigorously to minimize risk of accidents and injuries.

Requirements

  • Valid forklift license.
  • Up‑to‑date forklift training certificate.
  • Ongoing training.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
