We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join Arco on a fixed-term contract for 3 to 6 months. This role is hybrid, with a mix of home working and time spent at our Hull-based office. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within an Agile/Scrum delivery environment, supporting the delivery of change initiatives that align with Arco’s strategic plan to grow the business and increase profitability.

As a Business Analyst, you will work as part of a Scrum Development Team, partnering closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Stakeholders and Digital/IT teams. You will be responsible for understanding business needs, analysing current ways of working, and translating requirements into clear, actionable deliverables that enable incremental delivery of value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with front‑end teams to ensure APIs and services meet architecture and system requirements
  • Identify, document and champion improvements to business processes, systems and service/API design
  • Act as a digital business partner, serving as the key interface between business areas and Digital/IT teams
  • Work with stakeholders to elicit, analyse and document requirements as Epics, User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
  • Analyse and document AS‑IS and TO‑BE business processes and operational designs
  • Support Product Owners/Managers and Agile teams to refine and prioritise stories
  • Challenge existing assumptions and drive optimal solutions across the business
  • Manage and engage stakeholders throughout the product and project lifecycle
  • Support the delivery and embedding of change across the organisation
  • Contribute to wider change programmes, projects and initiatives to ensure milestones are achieved
  • Produce high‑quality analysis artefacts including Use Cases, Business Requirements Documents and Functional Specifications
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, observations and other analysis techniques
  • Identify, document and champion process and system improvements
  • Share best practice and promote strong business analysis capability across the organisation

The ideal Business Analyst

  • Experience with APIs, integrations or service‑led development is highly desirable
  • Strong background in requirements gathering, process mapping and business analysis techniques
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Hands‑on experience defining Epics, User Stories and Acceptance Criteria (including Gherkin)
  • Experience mapping AS‑IS and TO‑BEs using standards such as BPMN
  • Experience producing Use Cases, Business Requirements and Functional Specifications
  • Confident stakeholder management at all levels
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to see both detail and the bigger picture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using tools such as JIRA (or similar) and MS Visio
  • Retail sector experience would be desirable
