About the Role
Our client, a well-established builders merchant, is looking to recruit a friendly, motivated, and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join their branch team. This is a varied role involving both face-to-face customer service and telephone sales support.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, assisting trade and retail customers and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the branch.
Salary: Up to £33,000 DOE
Hours: Monday - Friday + Alternate Saturday mornings
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in branch in a professional and friendly manner
- Handle customer enquiries and sales over the phone
- Provide product advice and recommend suitable materials and solutions
- Process sales orders, quotations, and payments accurately
- Maintain strong product knowledge across building materials and supplies
- Support stock control and merchandising within the branch
- Assist with loading/unloading customer orders where required
- Build positive relationships with new and existing customers
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure excellent branch operations
Requirements
- Previous experience in a customer service or sales role
- Experience within a builders merchant or construction-related environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident dealing with customers both in person and over the phone
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
