Our client is currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Warehouse Supervisor to join our busy builders merchant operation. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of the warehouse and yard, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient stock management and compliance with all health & safety procedures. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership skills, warehouse experience and ideally knowledge of building materials and merchant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily warehouse and yard operations
- Lead, motivate, and support warehouse and yard staff
- Ensure customer orders are picked, loaded and dispatched accurately and on time
- Manage goods inwards, stock control, and inventory accuracy
- Maintain high standards of health & safety across the warehouse and yard
- Conduct staff training, toolbox talks and performance monitoring
- Ensure safe loading and unloading of vehicles
- Coordinate deliveries and collections with transport teams and customers
- Monitor warehouse cleanliness, organisation and security
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies or operational issues
- Assist customers professionally with collections and product enquiries
- Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment where required
Requirements
- Previous supervisory experience within a warehouse, builders merchant or distribution environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Good organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Health & safety awareness
- Counterbalance Forklift licence
