Our client is looking to recruit an experienced HGV / LGV Mechanic Technician to take responsibility for the servicing, maintenance and repair of their commercial vehicle fleet. The company operates a fleet of approximately 50 vehicles, with the split being around 60% HGVs and 40% LGVs, and they are looking for a skilled and dependable technician who can help ensure the fleet remains safe, compliant and operational.

The Role

  • Servicing, maintenance and repairs across HGV and LGV vehicles
  • Carrying out routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Completing PMI and safety inspections
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out defect rectification
  • Preparing HGVs and LGVs for MOT and DVSA inspections
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained to the required DVSA roadworthiness standards

  • Identifying and rectifying defects ahead of MOT presentation
  • Maintaining accurate service and inspection records
  • Helping minimise vehicle downtime and ensuring the fleet remains safe and compliant
  • Assisting with the servicing, maintenance and repair of forklift trucks where required

The Candidate

  • Current IRTEC qualification – essential
  • Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician
  • Strong experience carrying out HGV servicing, maintenance and repairs
  • Experience with MOT preparation and pre-MOT inspections
  • Good knowledge of DVSA standards and vehicle roadworthiness requirements
  • Experience carrying out PMI / preventative maintenance inspections
