Are you an experienced and qualified Finance Manager who would be open to joining the UK’s leading Health & Safety Experts in a 12-month maternity cover role? Reporting directly to our Director of Finance & Accounting and managing a team of one direct report, we are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join us on a fixed term contract basis, building on all the great work the team are already doing. As our Finance Manager, you will partner with senior leaders, own key financial processes, drive compliance and governance, and act as a subject matter expert in technical accounting and controls, with a focus on continuous improvement and treasury support.

The role is a hybrid position, and we are open to the Finance Manager joining us on a 4 or 5 day working week. If 5 days a week, you will need to work from our Head Office in Hull 3 days a week, and if 4 days a week, the requirement will be 2 days in the office. Due to the nature of the role, there will be occasions when you may be required to attend the office more on an ad-hoc basis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering accurate and timely Working Capital Outputs including technical consolidation, forecast and budget processes, developing efficiencies within processes and leading on continuous improvement.
  • Producing cyclical Balance Sheet and Cashflow consolidations for Board Packs providing value-add insight to the Main Board to support decision making.
  • Maintaining accurately the Group Balance Sheet and Reconciliations, identifying areas of risk/ opportunity, and engaging with relevant stakeholders to mitigate risks and deliver opportunities that drive Group profitability.
  • Producing individual entity statutory accounts and group consolidated working capital accounts.
  • Owning the overall audit process and engagement with the Group’s Auditors and other external experts where necessary, understanding and translating any issues to the Senior Finance team.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert within the Group on external financial reporting and internal financial controls.
  • Developing the Groups financial control and governance framework ensuring risks are clearly articulated and actioned/ mitigated.
  • Completing accurate and timely tax returns and delivery of tax projects that will include engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Managing the treasury operation including currency purchases and currency policy.
  • Managing our company pension scheme accounting and relationship with the pension scheme Auditors, Advisors, and Trustees.
  • Being a leader in the Finance team, acting as a manager and mentor to junior colleagues.

The ideal Finance Manager will be/have:

  • Qualified; ACA, CIMA or ACCA and experience in a similar Senior Finance role.
  • Experienced managing Balance Sheet, Cashflow, Audit, Statutory Reporting and Treasury related activities.
  • A proven record of senior stakeholder management and strong knowledge of business strategy, systems, process, people and how they connect.
  • System savvy with good working understanding of SAP (other ERP exposure would be a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of controls & compliance work and ability to document and challenge compliance.
  • People management experience.
