MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage in team working to develop a key area of responsibility across the Academy determined by the Principal;
- Work as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic leadership, management and continuous improvement of the academy.
- Lead and develop a designated whole-school area of responsibility as determined by the Principal, contributing to academy improvement priorities and strategic objectives.
- Lead the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of behaviour, pastoral and inclusion systems, ensuring high standards of conduct, wellbeing and student engagement across the academy.
- Develop, implement and regularly review behaviour policies and procedures, ensuring they are fair, consistent, evidence-informed and aligned with the academy's values and vision.
- Lead the academy's positive culture and rewards strategy, promoting exemplary behaviour, attendance, effort, achievement and personal development.
- Lead the strategic development, quality assurance and evaluation of the academy's internal alternative provision (REACH), ensuring effective intervention, inclusion, reintegration and improved outcomes for students.
- Champion inclusive practice across the academy, ensuring appropriate support and intervention for vulnerable students and those at risk of suspension, exclusion or disengagement from learning.
- Monitor and evaluate behaviour, suspension, exclusion, pastoral and alternative provision data, using analysis to identify trends, evaluate impact and inform strategic decision-making.
- Lead and line manage Heads of House, REACH staff and pastoral support and intervention teams, ensuring high-quality provision, accountability and professional development.
- Contribute to the professional development of staff through coaching, mentoring and modelling effective leadership practice to secure continual improvement.
- Ensure behaviour, pastoral and alternative provision systems actively promote safeguarding, inclusion and student welfare, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and safeguarding team.
- Lead strategic approaches to student intervention, including suspension, alternative provision placements, managed moves and reintegration processes, ensuring positive outcomes for students.
- Develop effective partnerships with parents, carers, governors and external agencies to support positive outcomes for students and address barriers to attendance, behaviour and engagement.
- Lead assemblies, collective worship and other academy events that promote the academy's values, culture and ethos.
- Contribute to whole-school and cross-curricular initiatives that support academy improvement and student achievement.
- Attend Senior Leadership Team meetings, government meetings and other academy committees as directed by the Principal.
- Undertake such professional duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be delegated by the Principal, commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES WITH THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM
- Staff support in matters of student behaviour and discipline.
- Coordination of, participating in and supporting staff duty rotas.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Trust’s Appraisal policy.
- Contribute positively to the appointment, deployment and development of staff to make most effective use of their skills, expertise and experience and to ensure that all staff have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
- Building relationships with Primary schools to enhance transition arrangements.
- Delivering CPL when linked to their specific area of responsibility.
The Assistant Principal will work with the Principal to develop the policies and practice, which promote inclusion, equality and the extended services that the school offers.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Develop and maintain contact with all specialist support services as appropriate.
- Promote the positive involvement of parents/carers in school life.
- Organise and conduct meetings where appropriate with parents and carers to ensure positive outcomes for all parties.
- Strengthen partnership and community working.
- Forge constructive relationships and strengthen partnerships, both in school and beyond, working with colleagues in other schools, parents, carers, the community and external agencies.
