- Supervise the students working on a pre-set learningactivity in the absence of a teacher or within the Independent Learning Unit.
- Establish productive working relationships withstudents, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
- Liaise with the designated class teacher to understandwhat the pre-prepared exercise for the class will be and what resources may begiven to students to facilitate learning.
- Record and report attendance at lessons in accordancewith Academy procedures.
- Explain and respond to students about what is requiredand what pre-prepared task/exercise they will be expected to undertake.
- Answer any general questions the students have inrelation to the work set and model expectations to students.
- Manage behaviour of students to ensure that aconstructive learning environment is maintained by using a range of strategiesto deal with classroom behaviour as a whole, and also individual behaviouralneeds. This will include meeting andcommunicating with parents as required.
- Report back to the designated class teacher asappropriate.
- Work with teaching staff to establish an appropriatelearning environment which is purposeful, orderly and productive.
- Assist teaching staff in lesson planning, evaluatingand adjusting lessons/work plans as appropriate.
- Ensure timely and accurate design, preparation and useof specialist equipment/resources/materials as required by teaching staff.
- Be responsible for keeping and updating records asagreed with teaching staff.
- Support the use of ICT in learning activities anddevelop students’ competence and independence in its use.
- Determine the need for, prepare and maintain generaland specialist equipment and resources.
- Administer and assess routine tests and invigilateexams/tests.
- Provide general clerical/administrative support.
- Provide first aid assistance to staff, students andvisitors as and when necessary.
- Provide flexibility to the working day to attend afterschool meetings, subject team meetings or year group meetings.
- To provide guidance and advice to readers and libraryusers.
- To provide guidance and support for users of ICT andother educational technology available in the library areas.
- Maintenance and display of newspapers and magazines.
- Supervision of students before school, during break andlunch times and after school.
- Actively promoting and managing after school clubs.
- Support with the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
