We are looking to recruit a qualified stone mason with a strong background in leading projects on site. The successful candidate will have proven ability in stone wall construction and repair, alongside solid skills in brick and block laying. Experience in creating new openings in existing walls and carrying out general masonry work is essential. This role requires someone who can combine practical skill with attention to detail, ensuring a high‑quality finish across a range of projects and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build and repair traditional and modern stone walls to specification
  • Carry out brick and block laying for structural and decorative work ensuring accurate alignment and level
  • Create new openings in existing walls (doors, windows, etc.) safely and accurately
  • Perform general masonry tasks including repointing, setting out, and finishing
  • Work closely with other trades on site to complete projects efficiently
  • Maintain safe and tidy working areas, ensuring tools and equipment are looked after
  • Drive to and from work sites (driver’s licence essential)

Requirements

  • Strong experience in stone walling, including both new build and repair work
  • Skilled in brick and block laying techniques
  • Proven ability to create new structural openings in walls
  • General stone masonry experience, including lime mortars, pointing, and repair techniques
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools commonly used in stone masonry and construction
  • Physically fit to carry out demanding manual work in various weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high quality workmanship
  • Full UK driving licence essential and access to own vehicle

Mileage will be paid at 25 pence per mile when using your own vehicle.
