Seeking an experienced Chemical Operator to join our team in Martin, SC. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe and efficient handling of chemicals and possess a minimum of 1 year of chemical manufacturing experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate various reactors, scrubber systems, vacuum systems, mechanical seals, pumps (diaphragm, sealess, gear, centrifugal), filters and associated auxiliary equipment in a designated area.
- Safely operate a forklift for essential tasks.
- Use proficient and safe cylinder handling techniques while transferring cylinders from one location to another.
- Transport and load 50 lb bags of chemicals into various chemical processing equipment by hand. - Climb high vertical ladders as needed during a shift.
- Troubleshoot equipment, operations, and processes, and train others through demonstration and verbal discussion.
- Maintain attendance at an acceptable level and adhere to operating, safety, and environmental practices and procedures.
- Practice all required safety measures and utilize necessary PPE for tasks.
- Multitask and prioritize tasks to maximize output. -
- Maintain awareness for hot work permit and participate in timely investigation and reporting of incidents during the shift.
- Inspect a specified production area to ensure proper labeling and housekeeping.
- Work closely with Process Chemists and Engineers as members of Start-up Training Teams when required.
- Manage chemicals wisely, including inventory and waste management.
- Fill out batch sheets completely and accurately and ensure proper use of material movement/location change forms.
- Diagnose and evaluate observations and instrument readings of chemical processing equipment within a specified area of responsibility.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year experience in chemical manufacturing.
- Demonstrated job longevity strongly preferred.
Noted
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands to grasp and feel, and regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to wear PPE, including chemical clothing, gloves, hardhats, steel-toed shoes, and respirator.
