LB Design Recruitment is currently working on behalf of a respected and design-led architectural practice that specialises in high-quality residential projects. We are looking for an experienced Technical Architect or Architectural Technologist to join their growing team in a pivotal role focused on technical delivery and innovation.

About the Role: In this pivotal role, you will lead technical development and project delivery across the practice, with a strong focus on implementing new systems, streamlining workflows and driving innovation to enhance overall efficiency. You will lead the delivery of projects, ensuring each one is completed efficiently, commercially, and to the highest standard. In addition to overseeing delivery, you will support the development of the team’s technical expertise—embedding best practices and helping to raise standards across all aspects of our work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of robust technical systems and best practices across the studio
  • Champion BIM workflows and explore the integration of AI into design and operations
  • Act as Principal Designer and ensure adherence to CDM and health & safety regulations
  • Mentor junior and mid-level team members, helping to raise overall technical competency
  • Oversee project delivery with a clear understanding of commercial pressures, program management and budget control
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and internal teams

Candidate Profile:

  • A qualified Architect or Architectural Technologist (CIAT preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years’ UK based post-qualification experience, ideally with a technical or delivery focus
  • Proven leadership and mentoring ability
  • Excellent technical knowledge of construction, detailing and UK Building Regulations
  • Familiar with Passivhaus principles and low-energy building standards
  • Expertise in BIM systems and enthusiasm for exploring AI applications in architecture
  • Proficient in 3D CAD packages and confident in hand-drawing/sketching
  • Must reside in the UK and have the legal right to work without sponsorship
