A busy design studio in North Birmingham is looking to employ the services of a chartered structural engineer. With a varied range of projects from home extensions to commercial projects, you will have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. This role would suit an experienced engineer with aspirations of becoming a stakeholder in a practice. You will be joining a team of 9 with varied roles from front end designers to Technologists working on building regulation packages and working drawings.
Key Responsibilities- Design safe, durable structures that meet regulations, using industry standard software, materials and CAD software for simulations.
- Conduct site visits to assess project progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Prepare detailed reports, drawings, and calculations related to loads, pressures, and stresses.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals, and provide technical advice throughout the project.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to the development of project plans.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations on all projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Must have proven experience with basement construction.
- Proven experience in structural design for domestic and commercial projects.
- Proficient in structural analysis and design software (e.g. MIDAS, SAP2000, STAAD, Robot, Tedds, etc.).
- Strong communications skills for client facing environments.
- Graduate with a degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro).
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to travel to various sites as required.
- Eagerness to learn and develop within the field of structural engineering.
- A proactive approach to work and a keen eye for detail.
