Chartered Building Surveyor Vacancy – Surrey

We are seeking a highly skilled and professional Chartered Building Surveyor to join our team. We are considering applications from AssocRICS Building Surveyors.

This role is perfectly suited to a recently Chartered individual looking to specialise and who is ambitious and keen to develop themselves.

We work exclusively within the Historic Environment so you will be working on Castles, Cathedrals, Churches and Forts – as well as delivering services to private homeowners for more vernacular Listed Buildings.

If you are a Chartered Surveyor with experience or interest in our specialism – this could be right for you.

We offer a good mix of survey and project work, and we often work with the most well-known names in building conservation and heritage.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for the right person – we are expanding and seeking to build a team. You would, over time, be expected to develop to a more senior level, running your own team and delivering the highest quality services to the sector.

We carry out IRATA rope access surveys – if the successful candidate were interested in carrying out the training this would be provided – but if you don’t have a head for heights, please don’t worry!

Duties

  • Conduct detailed condition surveys using advanced surveying equipment and techniques.
  • Prepare accurate survey reports, utilising a mix of the usual Office suite alongside AutoCAD, scans and photogrammetry.
  • Lead designer for conservation projects – often working with Church clients and other Conservation bodies.
  • Designing repair schemes and managing the Consents process.
  • Provide expert advice on all elements of building surveying.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), AssocRICS considered.
  • Proven experience in the built environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, CAD software, and data management systems.
  • Strong understanding of Listed Building Consent, planning regulations, and construction processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Knowledge of modern surveying techniques.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a car is required for site visits and client meetings.
