Senior Architect (Project Manager) – Retrofit & Social Housing
Location: Hybrid (2 days per week in King\’s Cross office, London)
Our client is seeking a talented, ARB-registered (5 years post qualified experience minimum) Architect to step into a Project Manager role within their specialist practice, focusing on the design, coordination, and delivery of retrofit programmes in the social housing sector. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced architect looking to pivot into a more project management-led position, while still applying their architectural expertise in a meaningful and impactful way.
The business is a values-driven social enterprise with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality retrofit projects and providing procurement and programme management services to public sector clients. You will work closely with the Founding Director and Associate Director in a highly collaborative and mission-focused team, playing a key role in delivering projects that directly improve homes and communities.
Key Requirements
- ARB-registered Senior Architect with a minimum of 5 years\’ post-qualification experience (PQE) – this is a strict requirement for the position.
- Strong background in leading UK-based construction projects through all stages, with an emphasis on delivery and completion.
- Demonstrable experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach for a wide range of clients and partners.
- Solid technical knowledge of both traditional and modern construction methods.
- Competence in preparing Employers’ Requirements and administering contracts.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, and statutory compliance.
- Familiarity with procurement strategies, contract administration, and supply chain management.
- Awareness of retrofit standards and frameworks including PAS 2035, PAS 2030, TrustMark, SAP, and EPC assessments (training can be provided).
- Desirable (Training can be provided if not currently held).
- Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
- Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency for Older and Traditional Buildings.
- Applicants must have the right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not available for this role.
