A specialist facade contractor is looking to appoint a Part II Architectural Assistant to join its growing Design team. Working across commercial, residential, healthcare, education and mixed-use projects, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to complete their Part III while gaining valuable experience within the facade and building envelope sector. The team is particularly interested in technically minded candidates who enjoy problem solving, detailing and project delivery. You'll gain exposure to curtain walling, glazing, cladding and facade interfaces, working alongside experienced facade professionals on projects from design development through to construction.

The Role

Working closely with Senior Designers and Project Teams, you'll support the delivery of facade packages across a range of live projects. The position offers excellent exposure to technical detailing, design coordination and construction information, making it particularly well suited to someone looking to strengthen their Stage 4 and Stage 5 experience before progressing towards qualification. You'll become involved in the production of technical drawings, facade detailing, interface coordination and project delivery activities, helping develop a strong understanding of how complex building envelope systems are designed and delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in producing technical drawings and construction information using AutoCAD.
  • Develop plans, elevations, sections and detailed facade drawings.
  • Support projects through RIBA Stages 4 and 5.
  • Assist with curtain walling, cladding and glazing detailing.
  • Support interface coordination between facade systems and the wider building structure.
  • Coordinate information with architects, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Attend design team meetings, technical workshops and site visits.
  • Assist with technical specifications, submissions and project documentation.
  • Maintain accurate drawing records and document control.
  • Participate in CPD activities and ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Part II qualified Architectural Assistant.
  • Looking to commence Part III.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills.
  • Interest in facade engineering, curtain walling, glazing or building envelope design.
  • Good technical detailing ability and understanding of construction drawings.
  • Experience working on RIBA Stages 4 and 5 projects.
  • Portfolio demonstrating technical project work and construction information.
  • Experience working within a UK architectural practice.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
