A Senior Computational Design Lead within a central design technology function, responsible for advancing the strategic use of computational methods across architectural project teams. The role focuses on embedding automation, optimising digital workflows and supporting the long-term evolution of the practice’s design technology capabilities. Working closely with senior leadership, the position contributes to shaping future-facing approaches to architectural production and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Led the deployment of computational design and analytical workflows across complex, large-scale architectural and masterplanning projects.
  • Collaborated with external stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, technology-led design methodologies.
  • Managed and mentored a team of computational specialists, defining project-specific strategies and identifying opportunities for automation.
  • Provided technical leadership within the design technology group, overseeing the implementation of advanced computational approaches on challenging projects.
  • Streamlined design workflows, automated repetitive processes and integrated performance analysis into early-stage design.
  • Delivered hands-on technical support to project teams and established consistent modelling standards across computational platforms.
  • Developed and maintained internal tools, scripts, templates and parametric content libraries to support project delivery.
  • Supported interoperability between design, analysis and information modelling environments, including in-house and third-party systems.
  • Produced internal training resources and delivered workshops to upskill architectural teams in advanced modelling techniques.

Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years’ professional experience in a computational design role within an architectural practice, including responsibility for technical leadership and team management.
  • Advanced expertise in parametric and algorithmic modelling for large and complex projects, including project setup and workflow structuring.
  • Strong programming capability using text-based and visual scripting languages.
  • Confident communicator with experience working directly with client and consultant teams.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and deliver results in fast-paced project environments.
  • Experience integrating environmental and performance analysis into design workflows.
  • Familiarity with collaborative development practices and version control systems.
  • Experience working with software APIs and exploring the application of AI-driven tools within design processes.
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows and cross-platform interoperability.
  • Strong interest in emerging technologies, continuous learning and applied research.
