Currently, we are seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join one of our dynamic Project Delivery teams.
The Role
Working within one of our dynamic contract teams, you will be involved in various stages, starting from pre-contract tendering to the final account phase. Your role will primarily focus on assisting the Contracts Manager on ensuring the efficient financial management of awarded contracts.
Main Duties
- Price tender inquiries, involving on-site visits, conducting condition surveys, capturing photographs, and measuring works as needed.
- Generate monthly valuations and accounts, ensuring timely receipt of all variation records.
- Verify that subcontractor rates for executed works encompass all necessary safety provisions.
- Provide clients with estimates for additional works as requested.
- Upon project completion, aid in the compilation of contract performance assessment sheets.
- Ensuring precise documentation of costs and values related to projects.
- Demonstrating proficiency in negotiating with clients and subcontractors to achieve mutually beneficial agreements.
- Possessing a solid grasp of work measurement principles.
- Efficiently managing and recording project costs to maintain financial control.
- Strong communication skills, encompassing both written and verbal proficiency.
- Comprehensive computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Confidence in establishing and nurturing relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Full, valid driving licence.
- Ownership of a personal vehicle is essential for commuting between different sites.
- A form of Construction Experience with a qualification such as HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying being desirable.
Package
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (1hr for lunch)
- Holidays: 21 days of holiday + bank holidays + birthday day off. Christmas closure.
- Enrolment onto an NVQ course
- Company branded uniform and relevant PPE
Additional Information
- As part of the interview process you will be required to complete an aptitude test.
- Nine-month probationary period.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- DBS check will be carried out on your behalf at the company’s expense.
- This is a fixed-term contract to cover length of cause.
- There may be an opportunity for permanent employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, subject to performance and business needs.
- A company car allowance will be provided to cover the use of your personal vehicle for company purposes.
- It is essential to ensure that your personal insurance policy includes coverage for business use.
