ARCHITECTS REGISTRATION BOARD

Independent Member of the People Committee

The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is the UK regulator for architects. Its role, set out by Parliament, is to keep the public safe by maintaining a Register of Architects. To be entered and retained on the Register, an individual must have qualifications that prove their knowledge and skills and commit to uphold the Architects Code and continue developing their knowledge and skills throughout their career.

ARB envisions a built environment that inspires people, reflects societal needs, ensures safety, promotes well‑being, and addresses fundamental challenges facing our planet.

What is the role of the People Committee?

The Committee oversees the strategic workforce strategy of ARB, reviewing and recommending to the Board matters relating to pay, benefits, and the performance review process for Board members, associates, and committee members.

The Committee also considers and approves the People Strategy, which drives and sets the HR and organisational development workplan. It additionally approves the appointments, induction, performance approach, and removal policy for ARB associates.

What is the role of the Independent Member?

The Independent Member is a non‑executive role providing strategic HR advice and external expertise to support the Committee’s work with ARB.

Why should I apply for this role?

This role is suited to a senior HR professional experienced in strategic HR/leadership. If you bring expertise in pay and reward, organisational development, and strategic workforce planning, you will have a significant impact on HR best practice at ARB.

Bringing new perspectives or advancing your career is also encouraged; ARB welcomes candidates who aspire to make a positive contribution and further develop their professional trajectory.
