The purpose of this role is to safely and effectively operate relevant production equipment and machinery in the designated functional area, to the required standards, and with minimal error and waste. Additionally, the role involves actively contributing to the achievement of production-related activities, goals, and targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with legislative and local health & safety requirements, escalating identified concerns and ideas for improvement.
  • Health and Safety notices, briefs/toolbox talks, COSHH sheets and supplier instructions etc. are displayed prominently throughout the factory and the employee is expected to make themselves aware of all such information.
  • At all times employees are expected to consider the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others when undertaking their duties.
  • Set and maintain machinery for production runs.
  • Working in a cleanroom environment.
  • As required share knowledge and skills with colleagues, including participation in colleague on-the-job training.
  • Problem solving where possible, recording issues, and escalating unresolved issues promptly and appropriately.
  • When requested undertake other duties within Stores, Warehouse or Despatch/Packing, or any other general activities which are within the capability of the employee.
  • Turnaround of product and orders to meet demands and customer order lead times.
  • Participate or be actively involved in Continuous Improvement activities e.g. change-over reduction and waste elimination projects.
  • Competently undertake all administration, planning and maintenance related tasks without error.
  • Comply with all company training policies and procedures and reasonable instructions.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • 2/3 years in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Completed GCSE level education and have solid literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Successfully complete any relevant pre-employment skills testing required.
  • Able to prioritise own workload.
  • Can demonstrate common sense / a problem solving ability.
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing principles and procedures.
  • Ability to work on own initiative when required but become part of the manufacturing team.

Working hours

Working rotating shifts Monday to Friday. Early shift 6.00-14.00 Late shift 14.00-22.00.
