Archer UK currently have an exciting opportunity for a Well Services Production Planner to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining production schedules to support operational efficiency, customer delivery requirements, and manufacturing capacity. You will ensure that manufacturing partners’ production activities are properly planned, sequenced, and optimised, while collaborating closely with operations, supply chain, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams. The role combines strong manufacturing exposure with solid supply chain expertise, focusing on process efficiency, supplier performance management, and cost optimisation. It ensures alignment between demand, capacity, materials, and supplier performance to deliver reliable output at optimised cost and lead time. You will be based in Blackburn, Aberdeen. You will join on a full-time, permanent basis.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, 3rd party machine shops and Engineering to ensure accurate forecasting of production requirements and resource needs.
- Own end-to-end production planning for assigned portfolio.
- Develop and optimise master production schedules and align demand forecasts with manufacturing capacity.
- Manage supplier production performance and lead-time reliability.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between production plans and actual performance.
- Coordinate material availability with procurement and warehouse teams to avoid shortages or delays.
- Monitor production progress, adjust schedules proactively, and communicate changes to all stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date data within ERP and planning systems.
- Identify capacity constraints, bottlenecks, and risks; propose corrective actions to maintain schedule integrity.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline production planning, reduce lead times, and improve flow efficiency.
- Develop and track key production planning KPIs such as schedule attainment, cycle time, and on-time delivery.
- Support on identifying and qualifying alternative suppliers to mitigate risk.
- Ensure regulatory, quality, and internal compliance across all planning activities.
- Participate in internal and external audits and maintain strong data accuracy and process discipline.
Requirements
- Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in production management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in energy industry operations, planning, or related Well Services roles.
- Mechanical Engineering experience.
- Able to create and modify engineering/technical drawings.
- Precision machining knowledge: Understanding of CNC machining processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Familiarity with inspection and quality control methods.
- Knowledge of materials and machining limitations to support realistic planning.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, capacity planning, material requirements planning, and scheduling principles.
- Experience with planning or ERP tools (e.g. IFS, RTMS, or similar).
- Experience in production planning, scheduling or manufacturing.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong decision-making capabilities and operational awareness.
- Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure.
- Collaborative team player who adapts well to changing operational demands.
- Right to work in the UK is essential.
