Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications that power core products and user experiences.
  • Build and evolve frontend user interfaces alongside robust backend services and APIs.
  • Develop cloud-native applications using modern frameworks, languages, and cloud platforms.
  • Lead architectural design across the stack, ensuring systems are modular, performant, secure, and maintainable.
  • Implement and manage infrastructure-as-code to provision and operate cloud environments.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle—from design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Conduct code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and mentor fellow engineers.
  • Monitor application performance and reliability across frontend and backend systems, and troubleshoot production issues with effective debugging and root cause analysis.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful full-stack development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Java, Go) and one frontend framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue).
  • Experience building and maintaining modern web applications, including APIs, frontend state management, and authentication flows.
  • Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or cloud-native provisioning frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of web architecture, RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with performance optimization, monitoring, and observability across the stack.
  • Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience leading technical design and influencing architecture decisions.
  • Experience with safety critical software development standards (DO-178).
  • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend build tools, testing frameworks, and design systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous, or early-stage environments.
