Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. Role Overview

You will join a small, expert team with big ambitions, directly shaping an end-to-end product that blends artificial intelligence, aviation expertise, and seamless mobile user experience. In this role, you’ll own the development of core features across our iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS apps while refining and modularizing our existing Swift architecture. Partnering closely with our in-house designers, you will turn complex design concepts into seamless, shippable code and help steer the future of our digital flight tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable, high-performance features for iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS
  • Partner with designers to build intuitive UI/UX that follows platform best practices
  • Refactor and modularize Swift and Objective-C code to improve quality and reusability
  • Integrate RESTful APIs with efficient data handling and error management
  • Manage the full app lifecycle, including builds, certificates, and App Store submissions
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold best practices in architecture, testing, and Git
  • Collaborate with our Backend Engineering Teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure seamless end-to-end integration

What You Need:

  • Minimum 3 years of commercial software development experience, including iOS app lifecycle management
  • Experience writing both Swift and Objective-C
  • Strong knowledge of SwiftUI, UIKit, and other core Apple frameworks (specifically MapKit or similar mapping SDKs)
  • Experience integrating REST APIs, with enough backend understanding to troubleshoot issues and contribute to API design
  • Strong understanding of iOS build systems, provisioning, certificates, and App Store requirements
  • Strong proficiency in Git

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience in one (or all) of the following would be advantageous: Aviation, Network-driven application development, Experience working with Metal or OpenGL
