Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. Responsibilities:
- Own the design of rotor and control system components or subsystems
- Create 3D models of aircraft components, to include both metallic and composite structures
- Create 2D drawings of structures to support manufacturing and procurement, to include geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Perform tolerance stack-ups of assemblies to ensure fit and performance
- Perform load calculation and motion studies on a swashplate control system
- Generate bill of materials as required for the program and ensure accuracy
- Release drawings, models, and documentation through configuration management tools
- Set up program architecture for drawing management and release
- Ensure any designs comply with company specifications and meet programs requirements
- Perform design reviews, provide technical input related to rotor systems, and participate in drawing release process
- Establish and enforce best practices for critical aerospace components
- Support program needs for conceptual design layouts and trade studies
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in design of aircraft dynamic systems
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret CAD models
- Strong foundation in GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards
- Ability to perform tolerance stack-ups
- Understanding of common aerospace materials and fabrication techniques
- Familiarity with common aerospace standards (NAS, MS, MIL-STD, AS9100)
- Experience working with PLM systems (ENOVIA, Teamcenter)
Preferred:
- Masters in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in rotorcraft design, including new development
- Proficient in NX and Teamcenter
- Understanding of rotorcraft dynamics and their influence on rotor design
- Basic knowledge of common manufacturing methods for composite structures
