Archer UK currently have an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Manager to join our busy and growing Wireline business.
The successful candidate will have operational accountability for UK service delivery. You will be accountable for managing planning and support of all Wireline operations (mechanical and logging) including performance management and post operation activities.
You’ll be pivotal in framing and developing the existing UK team structure whilst adhering to both sales and cost plans for each project or opportunity within the region.
This will be based in Blackburn Aberdeenshire. Successful candidates will join on a full-time, permanent basis.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Operations and Project Delivery
- Act as the operational focal point for customers, ensuring full understanding of project objectives, scope, operational risks, and proposed technical solutions.
- Coordinate and support all operational activities across mechanical and logging services to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
- Lead project readiness assessments and coordinate with Operations Coordinators, workshops, planners, and technical teams to ensure personnel, equipment, and logistics are fully prepared for mobilisation.
- Manage future personnel assignments and resource planning to support current operations and long-term campaign activity.
- Ensure pre-job planning, engineer briefings, post-job debriefs, evaluations, and final reporting are completed to the required standard.
- Conduct peer reviews and operational readiness reviews prior to mobilisation activities.
- Coordinate equipment preparation and operational support with UK maintenance team to ensure operational continuity.
- Support offshore operations and provide operational guidance where required.
- Ensure all operational paperwork, certifications, and records are completed, reviewed, and archived in accordance with company and client requirements.
- Review, validate, and present final operational deliverables and reports to customers.
Commercial and Customer Interface
- Support tendering, commercial proposals, and contract activities in collaboration with Sales, Business Development, and Technical Sales functions.
- Assist in the development of initial CTRs and operational cost estimates.
- Explore opportunities to maximise Archer commercial performance and operational efficiencies under existing contracts and campaigns.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication, operational reviews, and service quality meetings.
- Secure and manage critical well and project information required for safe and efficient operational execution.
- Drive alignment between operational execution and customer expectations while promoting Archer technologies and integrated service offerings.
Leadership and Team Management
- Promote collaboration across product service lines and support the “OneArcher” integrated delivery approach.
- Ensure operational teams are appropriately planned, resourced, trained, and supported to meet business and customer objectives.
- Foster a positive, high-performance culture that promotes teamwork, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Support competency development and succession planning to ensure key operational positions are staffed with capable and motivated personnel.
- Create and maintain constructive working relationships with employees, customers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement and Performance
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across safety, technology, logistics, communication, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
- Drive operational KPI performance and ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and review of operational metrics.
- Participate in service quality investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons learned processes related to equipment, operations, or service delivery.
- Conduct periodic audits and reviews of operational processes, documentation, and compliance requirements.
QHSE Responsibilities
- Promote a strong safety culture and sense of ownership for QHSE performance across employees, customers, and subcontractors.
- Monitor operational safety, environmental, and performance processes to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree or WL/Logging experience can compensate for a lack of formal education.
- Several years of slickline / electric line logging experience.
- Experience in an operational planning capacity with management experience is preferred.
- Highly organised.
- Good leadership skills.
- Right to work in the UK is essential.
