Substance Misuse NMP

Archer Resourcing are proud to be working with a leading UK charity to present a Substance Misuse NMP Vacancy. As an NMP, you will play a pivotal role in delivering safe, compassionate, and inclusive substance misuse treatment to some of the most vulnerable individuals in the community. You will work as part of a values-driven, multidisciplinary team dedicated to reducing harm and empowering people to build healthier, more fulfilling lives. You will provide specialist prescribing interventions, undertake clinical assessments, and help shape holistic recovery plans—ensuring every client receives the dignity, respect, and personalised care they deserve.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Practice

• Undertake comprehensive physical and mental health assessments for individuals experiencing drug and alcohol dependency.
• Independently prescribe and review medications in line with national guidelines and charity-specific clinical governance, including:

• Opioid Substitution Therapy (methadone, buprenorphine, long-acting buprenorphine)
• Alcohol detoxification and relapse-prevention medications
• Harm-reduction medications such as naloxone

• Values-Based, Person-Centered Support

• Build therapeutic, non-judgmental relationships with clients and work collaboratively to develop meaningful recovery goals.
• Promote harm reduction strategies such as safer injecting practices, BBV screening, and overdose prevention.
• Support service users through detoxification, stabilisation, relapse prevention and longer-term recovery plans.
• Advocate for clients facing stigma, health inequalities, and complex social needs.

• Collaborative & Partnership Working

• Work within a dynamic multidisciplinary team including recovery workers, peer mentors, GPs, psychiatrists, nurses, and social care professionals.
• Liaise with external partners such as housing services, safeguarding teams, probation, and community health providers to ensure joined‑up support.
• Participate in MDT meetings, case reviews, clinical huddles, and safeguarding discussions.

• Quality, Safety & Governance

• Maintain high-quality, up-to-date clinical documentation using the charity’s electronic case management system.
• Follow national and organisational policies relating to prescribing, controlled drugs, safeguarding, and clinical governance.
• Contribute to audits, service development projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Actively participate in supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development.

Person Specification – Essential

• Registered Nurse, Pharmacist, Paramedic, or Allied Health Professional with active professional registration (NMC / GPhC / HCPC).
• V300 Independent Prescribing qualification with evidence of safe autonomous practice.
• Experience working within substance misuse, mental health, community health, or related settings.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented approaches.
• Ability to work collaboratively, sensitively, and flexibly in a charity environment.
• Strong communication skills with a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable

• Previous work experience within the voluntary / community sector.
• Experience prescribing OST or alcohol-use medications.
• Skills in physical health interventions such as venepuncture, ECGs, or point-of-care testing.
• Experience working with complex needs, dual diagnosis, or individuals experiencing homelessness.
